Description

A barn, dating to the 16th century with later additions, stands about 15 metres west of Court Farmhouse. The barn is constructed of rubble with stone dressings, brick, and has pantiled and double Roman tiled roofs. Its layout is a "T" shape. The south front features two doors with Tudor arched heads, one with a segmental head, two ventilation slits, two upper loading doors, and a blocked window. Four weathered buttresses are also present. A 20th-century brick extension is attached to the south-east side of the cross wing. The lower east stable wing, two stories high, has a central door flanked by windows, all with segmental heads. On the first floor, it features a closed timber mullioned window to the right and a loading door to the left. The north front has five ventilation slits, two blocked openings with Tudor arched heads (one to the left has a ventilation slit inserted), a loading door above ground level, and five weathered buttresses. Quoins are present, and the gable end of the cross wing has a blocked upper window and a 19th-century three-light casement window at first-floor level, both under timber lintels. The west side has a cart entry with a segmental head and a single window. Inside the barn, the main area has seven bays with tier beam trusses, cambered collars, and windbraces in three bays of the south side.
