Description
Rock House is a house dating from the early 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of rubble with freestone dressings, featuring brick gable stacks and a pantiled roof. The building originally had a through passage plan and consists of two storeys and three bays. The front door, which is made of planks, dates from the 19th century and is set within a 20th-century porch. The ground floor windows have stone segmental arches, while the first-floor windows are positioned under the eaves. There are original 8-light casements on the ground floor to the left and two first-floor windows to the right, with all other windows being from the 20th century. Inside, the ceiling joists have 6-inch chamfers, and there are two winder staircases located behind 17th-century doors to the left of the blocked through passage and at the rear right. The building was formerly two cottages in the 19th century.
