Description

Pear Tree Cottage is a house that underwent refronting in the early 19th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The building is constructed of brick, with rubble at the rear, stone dressings, rendered sides, and a slate roof featuring gable stacks. It has an L-plan layout and stands two storeys tall with four windows, all featuring pointed arches and Y-tracery, along with impost-blocks, keys, and cills. The door, located in the second bay from the right, also has a pointed arch, a brick relieving arch, stone impost-blocks, and a key. The left bay is recessed at the first floor level and contains a round-headed window, with stone string courses and a parapet wall that ramps down on each side, topped with brick coping.

The rear of the cottage features a 20th-century central porch and door with a stone pointed arch, with windows similar to those on the front. There is a projecting wing to the right with a gable and a wooden eaves cornice on blocks, along with brick strings and quoins, and a 20th-century extension to the left.

At the front, there is a boundary wall made of brick with stone coping on rubble and a black brick plinth. This wall ramps down to the right over garage doors and extends about 30 meters. It includes a single pointed arched opening in a brick surround, featuring a plank door with studs and a strap hinge.
