Description

OWSTON OWSTON VILLAGE SE 51 SW 10/109 Pear Tree Cottage 10 Jan 1980 and attached outbuilding (formerly listed as 'Stable south-west of cottage at north end of village') GV 11 House and outbuildings, formerly a stable. Probably early C19, converted c.1980. Rubble magnesian limestone, stone slate eaves courses to C20 pantile roof. 2 storeys, 3 windows to lst floor; 1-storey outbuilding on right with total of 4 doors and 2 windows. Pear Tree Cottage: C20 panelled door set beneath old external stone steps rising from left; to left of steps a 2-light casement and a French window beneath segmental stone arches; another French window to right of steps. lst floor: French window to landing flanked by 2-light casements with C20 stone sills and segmental arches. 2 rebuilt ridge stacks. Outbuilding to right: 1st bay, in line with house, has another French window. Set back on right are 2 infilled round brick arches with their central pier removed, 2 doorways beneath; on left a window in position of bricked-up doorway; on right a slatted casement with small door beyond. Part of outbuildings used by Vine Cottage (q.v.). Included for group value.
