Description

This is a house, dating to the late 16th century, with alterations and extensions in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of rubble, with the upper part of the rear wings rendered. The roof is pantiled, with sections at two levels at the front, and includes a brick gable stack to the left and a central stack. The house has a U-shaped plan, originally featuring a through passage. The front elevation has two storeys and five windows. These are mostly 19th-century eight-pane casements, with timber lintels, except for two ground-floor sash windows on the left, which have brick sides. A 17th-century door, set within a moulded wooden frame, is located in the third bay from the left, and is protected by a 19th-century trellis porch. The rear of the house incorporates two two-storey wings with irregular 20th-century windows. Inside, the hall to the right of the through passage has a slightly cambered, chamfered lintel with straight-cut stops and chamfered jambs, and deeply chamfered beams.
