Description

Kirkwood Garden Shop and La Petite Hair Salon, originally known as The Green Tea Rooms including Coach House, dates from around 1820. It was originally built as coach and stable buildings that were part of Colquhoun House. The building is constructed of painted brick and has two storeys, with a one-storey wing on the side that features a panelled doorway topped by a fanlight in an arched and moulded frame.

On the ground floor, there is a Venetian window with bars and a restored shop front. The first floor includes a projecting oriel bay window with a plastered cove, casement windows with square panes, and a moulded architrave above, topped with a leaded roof. Adjacent to the main building is a yard with a two-storey coach house, also made of painted brick and covered with a Welsh slate roof.

Kirkwood Garden Shop and La Petite Hair Salon, along with Quaintways Tea Rooms, The Cottage, Colquhoun House, and Longford, form a notable group of buildings.
