Description
Leicester House, also known as Nos 1 and 2, is an early 19th-century building located on Main Street in Penshurst. It features a stucco exterior with incised lines that mimic stone courses. The house is three storeys tall with half-basement lights and has a tarred stucco plinth. The roof is made of Welsh slate and has projecting eaves. The symmetrical front elevation includes a central doorway, which is accessed by three steps and has a bracketed entablature that forms a hood above it. The doorway has been altered with modern double doors. On either side of the doorway are tripartite sash windows, while the second and third floors each have three sash windows. Leicester House, along with the Rectory Cottages, The Leicester Arms Hotel, and The Buxton House Stores, forms a group of significant buildings in the area.
