Description

Colquhoun House is an 18th-century building of two storeys and an attic, originally with five windows, but now with a right bay added to Longford. The visible facade is from the 18th century, built upon an older structure. It is constructed of painted brick, with a projecting central section raised to form a pediment with moulded brick eaves and containing an attic window. The building has a brick plinth, a continuous brick band, a band across the gable end, a brick parapet, and a concealed roof that is partly slate and partly tile. The symmetrical front has a central panelled door with a Regency fanlight above, restored panelled reveals, and a door case with carved scroll brackets supporting a pediment with key moulding. The windows are sash windows. The rear elevation features coupled bow fronts and is constructed of stone with tile hanging above and a Welsh slate roof with eaves and gutters. Colquhoun House forms a group with Longford, Kirkwood Garden Shop, La Petite Hair Salon and Quaintways Tea Rooms, The Cottage.
