Description
Toys Hill Farmhouse is a late 16th century timber-framed house that was clad in brick during the 18th century. The entrance front features a high-pitched tiled roof that slopes down to the ground floor eaves. There is one window and a door accessed by three steps, as the house is built on a hillside. Attached to the right is a two-storey, two-window link from the mid to late 19th century, which connects to an early 19th century oast house. The oast house has random rubble at the bottom and red brick above. The rear elevation has two storeys, with one window on the first floor and two windows along with a door on the ground floor. Inside, there is much exposed timber, an inglenook fireplace, and old quarry tiles on the floor. The roof features through-purlins with curved struts from the tie beam and wind braces. The oast house has been altered to create rooms, and there are some 18th century iron casement windows.
