Description

The Woods is an early 19th century house that stands two storeys tall and features three windows. It has a low pitched, hipped slate roof with eaves soffit supported by paired brackets beneath a moulded cornice. The first floor has slightly recessed sash windows with glazing bars, while the ground floor includes similar sashes set in canted bays. A central prostyle porch with a reeded frieze leads to a half-glazed door. Inside, there are reeded doorcases and an original marble fireplace surround, also adorned with reeding. The staircase is from the same period. At the back of the property, there are remains of an early 18th century cottage that was altered and re-roofed when the main house was constructed.
