Description

Old Kennards is likely a 16th-century timber-framed house, situated on the east side of Hildenborough Road in Leigh. The building is two storeys high and has five windows. The left-hand portion of the house is under a gable, while the right-hand portion has a lower eaves level, suggesting it may be older. It has a high-pitched tiled roof that is half-hipped on the right. The first floor is tile-hung, while the ground floor is brick and retains some visible timber framing. The left bay features an 18th-century wide sash window with glazing bars. The right-hand portion has 18th-century leaded iron casements above, and modern square-paned casements below. A half-glazed door is set beneath a modern hipped tiled hood. A gabled two-floor projection exists on the left return, alongside modern additions to the back left of the property.
