Description

The Forge is a mid-to-late 19th-century building, originally situated on Leigh Green (now Forge Square), north side. It has undergone name changes, previously known as The Old Forge on the High Street (north side). The building is open to the roof internally, featuring a central furnace. It has a high-pitched, half-hipped tiled roof with two pent dormers. A gable on the right side slopes down to a pent, and there is a single-story side piece. The structure is timber-framed with brick-filled lower parts and plastering above. A double door is centrally located under the right gable, flanked by windows. A wide, four-light, square-paned window is located in the left part of the building. The Forge is part of a group with South View (Nos. 1 to 7), Forge Square, and Forge House.
