Description
South View is a building from the third quarter of the 19th century, designed by George Devey in a Tudor style with an irregular form. It features a high-pitched tiled roof adorned with tall red brick chimneys. The exterior showcases decorative half-timbered walls with roughcast filling and a red brick plinth that rises to the ground floor cills. The narrow end facing the road is one storey with an attic, featuring one window beneath a wide, overhanging gable with carved beams. There is a similar but taller gable on the right side, which has a double overhang and carved bargeboards, along with visible beam ends. The building includes four- and five-light wood mullioned windows, some of which are set in square bays. On the left side, there are two first-floor oriel bays and a recessed entrance. South View, along with Nos 1 to 7 (consecutive) Forge Square, The Forge, and Forge House, forms a cohesive group.
