Description
This is a 17th century or earlier weatherboarded barn located to the south-west of Outridge in Brasted. It features a tiled roof that is hipped on the left side and half-hipped on the right. The barn has a random rubble foundation and a half-wall at each end, with a total of five small bays. Inside, there are arch-braced tie beams with struts supporting the principal rafters, and butt purlins positioned at alternating levels. A half-rail with diagonal bracing is found above. Some timbers have been renewed in the 19th century. The former double door has been enclosed, and there is a small door located under a pent hood. The lower floor at the west end, which is on a hill slope, has now been partitioned off. The barn, along with the oasthouses and drying shed, forms a group with Outridge.
