Description
Frenchstreet House is a large building that features a modern center and right wings with four and three bays, respectively, alongside a restored 16th-century farmhouse on the left wing. This farmhouse section has two storeys and an attic, with two windows beneath a hipped gable end. It boasts a high-pitched tiled roof, with the first floor and attic being tile hung. The first floor overhangs, revealing visible beam ends. The structure includes square timber framing with brick filling on the ground floor and a brick plinth. The windows have been replaced with casement windows in oak frames. On the left side, there is a massive chimney made of brick and stone, which has been largely reconstructed. While the listing is specifically for the farmhouse wing, the rest of the house maintains a sympathetic character. Frenchstreet House and the Oast House form a group.
