Description

This is a late mediaeval barn at Polebrook. It is characterised by weatherboard cladding and a high-pitched tiled roof, with a hipped end to the west. The barn has undergone some alteration, including new brick underpinning. Originally, it comprised three bays, though one bay was destroyed by bombing. The roof structure is of a collar purlin design, featuring simple crown posts braced to the tie beam. The barn is constructed with stout timbers and incorporates diagonal braces along the walls.
