Description
Brownings Farmhouse is a timber-framed building that dates back to the 16th century or earlier, with a recasing from the 18th century. The entrance front has two storeys and features two windows, with a projecting gabled section on the right. The roof is tiled and includes a tall symmetrical stack with a cornice that has several planes and shafts extending above. The first floor is tile hung, while the ground floor is made of 19th-century brick. The windows are a mix of 19th-century and modern small casements, and there is a plank door. At the back, there is an early 19th-century single-storey extension. Inside, the building has substantial timber work, including chamfered posts and beams, as well as stout diagonal braces. The old floorboards are still present, and although the inglenook fireplace has been bricked up, the beam remains visible.
