Description
Little Hale Cottages, located on Hale Oak in Chiddingstone, is a timber-framed house likely dating from the 16th century, which has been divided into two dwellings. The facade was altered in the 19th century. The building is two storeys high and features two windows. It has a high-pitched tiled roof with rebuilt stacks. The first floor is tile hung, while the ground floor is constructed of red brick with a pattern of blue headers and includes a dentil band. The 19th-century windows are one-bar casements, and there is a plank door. The rear of the property has modern service extensions, and there is a set-back right addition to No 1, along with a pent porch on the return. Inside, much of the timber framing is exposed.
