BRETTENHAM Melton Paddocks Barn

II

Barn. Early C18. Timber framed with weatherboarding and gabled pantile roof. Brick plinth. Central door with glazed overlight flanked by 2 rectangular vertical slat windows, also glazed over. Interior has close studded posts with arch braced tie beams. Tension bracing from principal posts to wall plate. Split principal rafters with clasped purlins above and butt purlins below. Collar beams. Braces from ties to butt purlins. Most timbers renewed.
