Description
Melton Paddocks Barn is an early 18th-century barn constructed with a timber frame, featuring weatherboarding and a gabled pantile roof. It has a brick plinth and a central door with a glazed overlight, flanked by two rectangular vertical slat windows, which are also glazed over.
Inside, the barn has close-studded posts with arch-braced tie beams. There is tension bracing from the principal posts to the wall plate, split principal rafters with clasped purlins above and butt purlins below, and collar beams. Braces extend from the ties to the butt purlins, although most of the timbers have been renewed.
