Description
The Old School House is a former school building that has been converted into a private house, constructed in 1872. It features a flint exterior with brick quoins and a tiled roof, designed in a T shape, with the Master's house at the top and the school room in the stem. The building is one storey high with an attic.
The entrance is through a square porch that has a doorway with a pointed segmental arch. To the left, the Master's house has a tall gable with brick tumbling on painted brick kneelers, and it includes one window on both the ground and attic floors. The school room has two casement windows, with the larger one set under a pointed brick arch within the gable, which also features tumbling and kneelers.
All arched windows are adorned with spandrels that have glazed tiles arranged in a diaper pattern. The main east gable, which also has tumbling and kneelers, is above a tall five-light arched window that illuminates the school room, with timber mullions rising to the arch. The building has a gabled roof with a brick eaves cornice and two stacks over the left wing.
