Description
Rushford Hall is a former farmhouse dating from the early 18th century, which was significantly enlarged in a matching style in the early 20th century. The building features a colour-wash and render over red brick, topped with a hipped roof made of black glazed pantiles. It stands two storeys high with attics and originally comprised seven bays, complete with a string course and rusticated and chamfered quoins. The exterior includes a modillion cornice and a plastered parapet, along with small l-paned sash windows in flush frames that have arched heads set in brick surrounds. The central entrance has a recessed door with panelled sides and a semi-circular traceried fanlight above it. A single-storey porch, which has a flat roof and parapet to match the main house, was added in 1983. On the ground floor of the main front, panels of white brick have been inserted between the windows, though it is unclear if this was for decorative purposes or as a repair. To the west, there is a small two-storey extension that has been reduced to a single storey, while a five-bay extension on the east has nearly doubled the size of the house. Inside, the hall features several elements brought in from other locations, including Jacobean-style panelling and a fireplace surround, a mid-17th century dog-leg stair with carved finials and posts, and a quantity of early 16th century panelling of apparent Continental origin in the new extension.
