Description

This is a single barn, likely dating to the 17th and 18th centuries, and perhaps earlier. It is composed of two structures built side-by-side. The barn is timber-framed and clad with weatherboarding, topped with a clay tile roof held in place by pegs. A single-story lean-to addition extends from the yard side, featuring a timber-framed wagon entry with a hipped clay tile roof. Inside the barn, the roof is of queen strut form, with arched tie beam braces, windbraces, and braces supporting the wall framing. The barn contributes to the group value of the wider Somerden Farm complex, which includes oast houses.
