Description

Chested House is probably a 16th century timber-framed farmhouse, which has been recased and extended with a 19th century gabled crosswing. The older part of the house is two storeys high with an attic, and has three windows. It has a high-pitched tiled roof with two 19th century gabled dormers. A rebuilt ridge stack and a stack at the junction of the building are present. The first floor is tile-hung, while the ground floor is red brick with blue headers. Modern square-paned casement windows and a gabled porch are visible. A small section of an old wall is visible, showing close-set timbers and diagonal braces.
