Description
The garden wall, dating from the 1770s, is located in Harrietsham, enclosing approximately 1 acre of land immediately behind the Almshouses. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a plain up-ended brick coping. The wall stands about 6 feet high, rising to approximately 8 feet in the north-east corner. It includes shallow brick buttresses on both the inside and outside at roughly 8-foot intervals. The south-east section of the wall is interrupted by 20th-century brick gate piers located about 20 yards from the north-east corner, as well as by 1770s gate piers situated about 60 yards from the same corner. The wall is listed for its group value.
