Description
Bardingley Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has a core dating from the 14th century or earlier, with later alterations and restoration carried out in the late 20th century. It is timber framed with rendered infilling and has a plain tile roof. The structure consists of four timber-framed bays, with a fifth bay added to the right, likely representing a fragment of an aisled hall. The farmhouse is two storeys high, built on a rendered plinth, and features exposed principal posts, a midrail, and some exposed studding. The roof is hipped, and there is a multiple brick ridge stack located towards the centre. The fenestration is irregular, comprising seven windows: five 20th-century casements and one four-light diamond mullion window on either side of the stack. There is a boarded door in the left gable end. Inside, the farmhouse displays exposed framing, a fragment of a central truss with passing braces, and an arch-braced rear arcade plate, along with a crown-post truss towards the left end. The farmhouse is situated on a moated site.
