Description
New Barn Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 15th century, with early 17th century and 19th century alterations. It features a timber frame, with the front clad in red brick arranged in Flemish bond, and has a plain tile roof. The building has a 2-bay open hall, with a storeyed bay to the right that was formerly jettied to the front and side. The left end was rebuilt in the 19th century. It stands at two storeys high, with a plat band over the ground and first-floor windows and a plain stone-coped parapet. The roof is hipped to the left and half-hipped to the right, with a brick stack on the front slope of the roof towards the left end. The windows are irregularly arranged, featuring three recessed 2-light windows with top-lights and splayed rendered voussoirs. A 19th century timber framed porch with a panelled door is accessed by two steps and is located under the stack. Inside, the farmhouse has exposed framing, a moulded end of the hall beam with a close-studded partition, and a complete moulded spear. There is also evidence of diamond mullion windows.
