Description

A barn dating from the early 17th century is located about 15 metres south-west of numbers 1, 2, and 3 Plain Cottages. The barn is timber-framed and has been clad in weatherboarding, with a plain tile roof. It comprises four bays constructed at right-angles to the road and features a hipped roof with a gablet. A lean-to extends along the long east side, and from this rises a boarded porch with a hipped plain tile roof and double doors. A further set of full-height double doors is situated on the west side. Inside, the principal posts display gunstock jowls. The roof is a clasped purlin design, with vertical queen-struts to the collars. An edge-halved scarf-joint is visible on the wall-plate.
