Description
Cromwell Farmhouse is a former public house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is timber framed, featuring a main range that is weatherboarded and a wing that is rendered, both topped with tile-hung gables. It has a plain tile roof and is arranged in a T-plan, with the main range positioned at right angles to the road and the wing extending towards the center on the left. The structure is two stories tall with a garret and has a half-hipped roof on both the main range and the left gable end of the wing. There is a multiple brick ridge stack located at the junction of the main range and the wing. The fenestration is irregular, consisting of two casements: one small-paned casement in the wing and a two-light casement in the gable end of the main range. A lean-to is present at the front gable end, along with a weatherboarded lean-to in the angle between the main range and the wing, which returns around the gable end of the wing and features a stack and a door on the left end. Additionally, there is a single-storey weatherboarded addition with a half-hipped roof on the right, which also has a door.
The interior has only been partly inspected but includes exposed beams and a 17th-century fireplace in the front room of the main range.
