Description
The Green Man Public House is a public house dating from the mid-17th century, with remodels and extensions made in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. It features a timber frame with plastered walls and a tiled roof that includes some slates. The building has brick extensions and stacks, and it is a long range with a small crosswing to the right.
The structure is two storeys tall. The front has a ground floor projecting lean-to extension that contains the entrance. There are three first floor casement windows with timber surrounds. The building has a plinth and a modillion eaves cornice. A large ridge stack is located to the right of the main range, while there is an external stack at the left end. The right gabled wing has an exposed wall plate and a lower ridge than the main range, along with casement windows. The ground floor lean-to extensions continue from the front on both the right and left sides.
At the rear, there is a 19th-century range that runs parallel to the main range, with a separate lower ridge connecting to the crosswing. There is also a further one-storey flat-roofed 20th-century extension into the garden, which is not of special interest. Inside, the ground floor features a large fireplace and exposed timbers.
