Description
Nos. 46-50 on West Street is a row of houses dating from the 17th century on the left and the early 19th century on the right. The ground floor is made of painted brick, while the first floor is tile hung, topped with a plain tile roof. The row consists of two sections of roughly equal length, both standing two storeys tall. The left section is built on a stone plinth, and the right section is on a brick plinth. The roof of the left section is half hipped to the left, while the right section has a slightly shallower pitch. There is a red brick ridge stack at the right end of the left section and a small rendered stack at the right end of the right section, which may be part of No. 52. The windows are arranged irregularly, featuring one two-light casement in the left section, and one two-light casement and one horizontally sliding sash in the right section. The entrance to No. 46 has a ribbed door with a rectangular light in a small 19th-century lean-to at the left end. No. 48 has a boarded door at the left end of the right section, and No. 50 has a ribbed door with a central glazed panel towards the centre of the right section. There is a 19th-century rear wing to the left of No. 46. The interior has not been inspected.
