Description
No. 62 West Street is a house row that was formerly a post office and shop, now serving as a post office. It features a mid- to late 19th century front attached to an 18th century or earlier building. The right end bay is made of painted brick, while the rest of the ground floor is also painted brick, with the first floor displaying banded plain and fishscale tiles. The building has a plain tile roof and stands two storeys high on a plinth, with a half hipped roof and a rear stack to the left.
The fenestration is irregular, consisting of four glazing-bar sashes. The right end bay includes a boarded first-floor loading door, flanked by recessed blind windows. On the ground floor, there are two late 19th century canted bay windows and a late 19th century shop front that features a recessed door and windows. Additional doors include a boarded door with a flat bracketed hood positioned between the bay windows towards the left end, a boarded door under a flat corniced hood between the right bay window and the shop front, a half-glazed and boarded door towards the right end of the shop front, and double doors under a segmental head at the right end bay. The interior has not been inspected.
