Description
No. 31 High Street is a house and shop that now serves as a post office. It dates from the early to mid-19th century and has undergone minor alterations. The building is constructed of painted, rendered brick and features a raised band at the first-floor cill level. It has a tiled roof with a dentilled cornice and end stacks. The front is two stories high with two windows. The upper floor has glazing bar sashes set in a moulded surround on brackets. On the ground floor, the right-hand window has been replaced with plate glass, while the left side retains an early 19th-century shop front with two large 16-pane windows beneath a frieze and cornice. Pilasters are located at the ends, and there is a recessed entrance between the windows that has a 20th-century glazed door and overlight.
