Description
The White Hart is an inn, possibly originally built as such, dating from the 18th century with late 19th-century alterations. It is constructed of red brick on a sandstone plinth and features tiled roofs with corbelled eaves and verges, along with painted stone kneelers. The building has an end stack to the left and ridge stacks.
It stands two storeys high with a gable-lit attic and has a four-window front divided into two parts by a centrally projecting, steeply pitched gable that contains a tier of three windows. The attic has a casement window, while the first floor features glazing bar sash windows and the ground floor has a tripartite sash, all with wedged heads and raised keystones on the upper floors.
To the left, there is a set-back wing with two windows, also featuring glazing bar sashes as described for the first floor. The entrance is located under the inner window, tucked against the return angle and has a painted surround. The right-hand side of the building has a set-back, large late 19th-century gable over earlier stonework on the lower parts of the ground floor. This side also has a similar casement window on the first floor above a raised string and three casement windows on the ground floor, all with wedged heads and raised keystones.
