Description
Nos. 31A and 33 High Street are a pair of houses dating from the late 18th century, with some minor alterations from the early 19th century. They are constructed of red brick and feature a tiled roof with a verge parapet at the left end. The houses have ridge stacks that are inset from the ends, with the larger stack located on the right.
The building is three stories high and has a four-window front, with the windows widely spaced to the right of center. The ground and first floors have segmental gauged brick heads, although these were boarded up at the time of the last survey in June 1985. The top floor features shallow, small-pane casements that are set directly over the heads of the windows below.
To the left, there is an early 19th-century two-window shop front that is set under a cornice and has an entrance located between the windows. There is also a further entrance in the center of the right side, both of which have moulded surrounds. All ground-floor openings were boarded up as noted earlier.
