Description
This is a 17th-century barn located about 5 metres west of Rabbit Farmhouse on Goudhurst Road in Staplehurst. The barn is timber framed and clad with weatherboarding, with some sections filled in with brick in both stretcher bond and Flemish bond. It features a plain tile roof and consists of three timber-framed bays that are built at right angles to the house. The roof is half-hipped with jettied half hips. There is a boarded door positioned towards the centre of the north side, along with a lean-to extension to the west and a short lean-to to the south.
Inside, the barn has cut jowls on the principal posts and a clasped purlin roof that includes diminishing principal rafters and vertical queen-struts supporting the rafters.
