Description
Lovehurst Manor is a farmhouse dating from the mid-18th century, possibly with a core from the 17th century, and has undergone later alterations and additions. The core is timber-framed, while the north elevation features red and grey brick in Flemish bond. The ground floor of the west return is also red brick in Flemish bond, and the first floor is tile-hung. The building has a plain tile roof and stands two storeys high, with an attic and cellar on a coursed stone plinth. It has a plat band and a hipped roof with hips returning to the east and west, along with two half-hipped gables on the south side. A central brick ridge stack is present, as well as two small hipped 2-light dormers. The front has a regular arrangement of five windows consisting of 12-pane sashes in open boxes, spaced 2:1:2, with the central window blocked. The ground-floor windows have segmental heads. The central door features two broad fielded panels and a rectangular top light, topped with a flat bracketed hood. The west return elevation displays irregular fenestration with four casements and a central door, also with a flat bracketed hood. Inside, there is a dragon-beam in the north-west corner and re-used rafters from a lapped collar roof. The manor is situated on a moated site.
