Description

This is a barn located about 30 metres north-west of Tanner House, dating from the early 17th century and 18th century. It is timber framed and sits on a brick plinth, with weatherboarding and a plain tile roof. The barn consists of six timber-framed bays; the north end bay is from the early 17th century, while the rest are from the 18th century. It has a gabled roof and features a midstrey in the second bay from the north, which includes a full-height doorway to the west and a porch with a hipped roof and double doors to the east. There is also a lean-to structure on the east side.

Inside, the north end bay has gunstock jowls, while the slightly taller principal posts of the remaining bays have cut jowls. The roof structure includes a clasped-purlin design with reducing principal rafters and raked jowled queen posts in the north end bay, which was altered in the 18th century. The rest of the barn has a staggered butt purlin roof with vertical queen struts to the collars. The north end bay features tension braces on the side walls and tension braces that are trenched past the midrail to the gable end, while the rest of the barn has straight braces. Most of the east wall has lath and plaster infilling above the midrail. This barn is included for its group value.
