Description
Sherenden Farmhouse is a house that dates from the 17th century or early 18th century. It features a timber frame, with the ground floor of the front elevation constructed from red and grey brick in a mixed bond. The first floor, gable ends, and rear are weatherboarded, and the roof is covered with plain tiles. The building has two timber-framed bays and stands two storeys high with a gabled roof. There is a projecting brick gable-end stack at the front of the left gable end, and a similar, later stack on the right side. The windows are arranged irregularly and consist of two two-light casements. A boarded door is located under a lean-to hood towards the centre of the front. At the rear of the right gable end, there is a narrow brick lean-to. Inside, the farmhouse features gunstock-jowled posts and a largely rebuilt clasped-purlin roof with vertical queen struts to the collars. The ground floor displays exposed cross and axial beams and joists, and there is a fireplace with plain brick jambs and a wooden bressumer.
