Description

Bainden Farmhouse is a house that dates from the late 16th century, with alterations and extensions made in the 17th to 18th centuries and further changes in the late 20th century. The building has a timber frame and is clad with red brick on the ground floor, while the first floor is tile hung, and the rear wings are weather boarded. It features a plain tiled roof and stands two storeys high with a garret on a plinth. The roof is half-hipped with a gablet on the left side, and there are stacks located to the centre left and at the end right.

On the front, there are two three-light wooden casements on each floor, with a central four-light casement on the first floor. A glazed door is positioned to the centre left on the ground floor, and there is a 20th-century lean-to extension to the right, which has wooden casements set into the roof slope. The rear has a catslide outshot and a gabled two-storey wing to the rear right, which includes an end stack and half-hipped wings from the 18th and 20th centuries.

Inside, the farmhouse features a fully framed interior with cambered tie beams (the roof space has not been inspected). There is a large inglenook with a timber bresummer and a substantial kitchen fireplace located in the 17th-century gabled rear wing. Additionally, there is an 18th-century brick-lined cellar.
