Description

This barn, located about 40 metres south-south-west of Manor Farmhouse, dates from the late 16th century or early 17th century, with an addition from the 18th century. It is timber framed and weatherboarded, standing on a red and grey brick plinth, and features a plain tile roof. The original structure consists of three timber-framed bays from the late 16th or early 17th century, with a central midstrey, while a fourth bay was added to the left in the 18th century. The barn has a hipped roof with a gablet to the right and full-height corrugated iron doors positioned to the right of centre. There is a low rear porch with a hipped roof, along with lean-tos at the rear to the left of the porch and on the left gable end.

Inside, the late 16th or early 17th century section includes gunstock-jowled posts, arch-braced tie-beams flanking the midstrey, and a clasped-purlin roof featuring diminishing principal rafters, windbraces, and vertical queen struts to the collars. The 18th-century bay has a tie-beam and wall-plates that are in the same plane. The rear wall of the left end and left-central bays has stave, lath, and straw daub infilling above the midrail, while the left gable end has lath and plaster infilling above the rail. There is also a three-plank door situated between the left bay and the end lean-to.
