Description

This is a barn located about 30 metres southwest of Manor Farm House, dating from the late 17th century, with later additions. It has a timber frame that is clad in corrugated iron sheets and weatherboarding, topped with a corrugated iron sheet roof featuring gabled ends. The barn consists of three bays, with a central threshing bay that has a midstrey on the northeast front and a full-height cart entrance on the southwest rear. There are later outshuts added to the front and at the southeast end. The large gabled midstrey is situated at the centre of the northeast front, with an outshut on the left side. The rear has full-height sliding doors in the centre, while a large lean-to outshut is present at the southeast end, and a lower range has been added to the northwest end. Inside, there are cut jowled posts, curved braces supporting the tie-beams, and queen-struts that support the clasped purlins. The roof structure includes one tier of clasped purlins at the junction of the struts and diminished principals, with complete common rafter couples that do not have a ridgepiece, along with curved wind-braces. The mid-rail and close-studding are intact, featuring tension braces, and the original midstrey remains.
