Description
The water mill, located approximately 4 yards south of Mill House, dates from the 19th century and is now used as a store. It features a timber frame, with the ground floor constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, while the upper sections are weatherboarded and topped with a plain tile roof. The building has two storeys and a "garret," with the ground floor partly below ground level and a half-hipped roof. The "garret" end is lit by two small three-light casement windows on the first floor, alongside a boarded door at the left end of the first floor. A rear lean-to has been added to the left, using the same materials and also featuring a door. A mill pond is situated at the south-west end of the property.
Inside, there are three timber-framed bays, with chamfered cross beams and substantial principal posts. The ground floor was not seen, but the first floor includes an L-shaped platform that is 6 inches high, positioned opposite the end from the wheel. The "garret" contains a raised walkway with boarded sides, flanked by wooden bins at floor level. The roof is partly boarded with a ridge piece, and stairs are located in the lean-to and at the south end. The mill is listed for its group value.
