Description
Fairbourne Manor is a house dating from the first half of the 17th century, with additions from the early and mid-20th century. It likely has a timber-frame core. The garden front is constructed of coursed stone with brick dressings, and has a plain tile roof. The house is arranged with a lobby entry and four bays set at right angles to the road. It is two storeys high. The roof is hipped to the left and adjoins a 20th-century wing to the right. A large brick ridge stack sits in the centre, with a stone base and English bond brickwork above. A smaller stack is located within the left gable end. The windows are irregularly placed, with four-light and one five-light leaded casements, and a two-story 20th-century leaded stair window to the right. A ribbed door is located beneath the central stack. A wing added around 1910 has a higher ridge and a hip that forms part of the slope of the front range, merging with a short wing projecting towards the garden, dated circa 1945. The entrance front, dating from around 1910, has a basement to the right, creating a double-depth plan with the 17th-century range. It features five small gables and various windows, and a boarded door beneath a flat, corniced hood to the left of the 17th-century range. The interior retains chamfered beams and a clasped purlin roof with short, curved wind braces.
