Description

FRINSTED NEW PURCHASE ROAD TQ 85 NE (east side)

1/5 Barn circa 27 yards north- north-west of Madams Court Farmhouse GV II Barn. Early to mid C15, with C19 alterations. Timber-framed on brick plinth. Left gable end C19 flint with brick dressings to lower half. C19 brick gable to right end. Rest clad in C19 weatherboarding. Plain tile roof, half-hipped to left. C19 canopy to south, with blocked doors opposite. Interior: 5 bays; three C15, two to east C16 or C17 but in same style. Front and rear aisles, with outer walls raised and rebuilt in C19. Midstrey in third bay from west. Roof above tie-beams rebuilt in C19. Tall, substantial C15 arcade posts, on wood cills, with heavy gunstock jowls. Curved passing shores. Archbraces to tie- beams and arcade plate. Edge-halved arcade-plate scarf point.
