Description
No. 27 Gabriel's Hill is a shop and office building that dates from the 18th century or earlier, with a facade that was updated in the mid-19th century. The front of the building is covered in stucco, designed with incised lines to resemble masonry, and features an old tiled roof with two hips at the front and a late cornice. The structure has three storeys and two windows, with mid-19th century sash windows that have only vertical bars and horns, although the lower parts of the first-floor windows are missing their vertical glazing bars. The shop front has been altered later. The rear elevation is rendered and retains three early 19th century sashes with 12 panes each, set in moulded architraves, and includes a wooden bressummer between the first and second floors. The interior has been largely modernized but includes some 20th century fake beams on the second floor, which may conceal structural beams. Access to the roof was not possible.
