Description
No. 33 Coney Street is a shop that dates back to the early 18th century, although it was refronted and altered in the mid-19th century, with further changes made in the 20th century. The exterior features incised stucco that has been colour-washed, with roofs made of slate and tile.
The building is three stories tall and has a two-window front. It includes a three-quarter glazed shop door situated between plate glass windows, all beneath a deep fascia and moulded cornice. The upper floor windows are 12-pane sashes with slender glazing bars and painted stone sills. There is a plain eaves frieze below a moulded cornice, and an ornate tie rod plate can be seen between the second-floor windows.
At the rear, the building also has three stories with an attic and a three-window gable end. The ground and first floors are obscured by a later building. The second floor features a projecting bay to the left, complete with a shaped parapet. The windows on this floor are tall 12-pane sashes, with a narrower one in the left bay. The attic window is a squat 12-pane sash, and there are raised bands at the attic level and along the gable edge. The interior has not been inspected.
