Description
No. 102 High Street is a house that has been converted into a shop with offices. It dates from the mid-18th century, though it may have earlier origins, and has undergone various additions and alterations, including a stucco front added in the early 19th century and a shop front installed in the 1970s.
The building is constructed of stucco over brick and has a plain tile roof with a gable end facing the street. It has a double depth plan and stands three storeys tall, featuring two windows on the first floor. The corners of the building are accentuated with quoins. The second floor has 6/6 sash windows, while the first floor has 6/1 sash windows, all set in plain reveals with sills and flat arches topped with raised keystones. The top of the building is adorned with a stepped frieze and a low, coped parapet. The ground floor features a plate glass shop front and a glazed door. At the rear, two collar beams are exposed.
Inside, the ground floor does not retain any original features or evidence of the original layout, and the rest of the interior has not been inspected.
