Description

This is a headstone dedicated to Mrs. Elizabeth Wise, located approximately 3 yards northwest of the narthex of the Church of St Mary and All Saints. It dates from the early 18th century and is made of stone. The headstone features scrolls that are set horizontally across the top, with both ends turned inwards. These scrolls are joined at the top by a convex bridge and below by a deep hollow that leads to a large inwardly-turned half-scroll, which rests on the inscribed area. The inscription reads: "Here lyeth ye Body of Mrs. Elizath: ye widow of Mr. John Wise who Departed this Life ye 6th of October 1718 in the 63 year of her Age."
