Description

Liberton Hall and Liberton Cottage is a house, now a row of houses, dating from the mid-15th century. The building is timber-framed, with a ground floor of red brick and a first floor that is tile-hung with fishscale tiles. The rear elevation features exposed wall posts and tension braces with plaster infilling. It has a plain tile roof and is positioned at right angles to the road. The structure includes an open hall with two roughly equal bays and a storeyed bay at either end. It is very large, consisting of two storeys and attics beneath a hipped roof. There is a multiple brick stack on the front slope of the roof, off-centre to the left, along with two projecting brick stacks on the left end and one on the right. The fenestration is irregular, featuring five 2-light casements. A ribbed door leads to Liberton Hall beneath the stack, and another door leads to Liberton Cottage to the right of centre. The interior has been partly inspected and includes a moulded crown-post, a hollow-chamfered inserted floor, and exposed timbers in Liberton Hall.
