Description
Tylers is a house that was formerly cottages, dating from the late 15th century or early 16th century, and restored in the late 20th century. It is timber-framed with plaster infilling and has a plain tile roof. The building is 1½ storeys tall and sits on a stone plinth. The facade appears to be divided by principal posts into two short central bays, with very narrow "marginal" bays on either side and storeyed end bays, the one on the right being longer. The structure features broadly-spaced close-studding, a higher midrail in the right central bay, and tension braces in the right end bay and on the outer side of each central bay. The right gable end has tension braces from the cill to the post-heads. The roof is hipped with a gablet on the right. There is a brick gable end stack on the right and a ridge stack to the right of the right central bay. The ground floor has irregular fenestration with four large leaded casements and a ribbed door in a late 20th-century wooden porch across the two central bays. At the rear, there is a timber-framed wing that is also close-studded and has tension braces. The interior has not been inspected.
